Montecristo is arguably the most renowned and appreciated Habanos brand in the world. It is often considered the benchmark against which enthusiasts compare other brands.
Its name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel, *The Count of Monte Cristo*, a favorite among the workers at the factory where the brand was founded in 1935, when the book was read aloud to the *Torcedores* (cigar rollers).
Originally, the Montecristo range consisted of a limited assortment of sizes numbered from 1 to 5. Today, it offers a wide variety of *vitolas* to satisfy cigar enthusiasts of all levels.
Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively from filler and binder leaves carefully selected in the Vuelta Abajo region, renowned for producing the best tobacco in the world.
The Medias Corona format, literally "Half-Corona," was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1907 by an English importer who did not want to keep his wife waiting at the theater while he finished a Corona-sized cigar.
The Montecristo Medias Corona is the second incarnation of this format, and at only 9 cm in length, it remains the shortest handmade long-filler Cuban cigar available on the market.
