Montecristo No. 2

The Montecristo No. 2 is one of the jewels of the brand. From the moment it is lit, it offers generous aromas of wood and spice, evolving into increasing strength, yet always well-balanced. It provides a richness of flavors that will delight regular smokers without being too intense for more occasional enthusiasts.

This iconic format is one of the original creations of Montecristo, founded in 1935 in Cuba by Alonso Menendez. The brand quickly became the most famous of the cigars produced by Menendez, Garcia y Cia, then the largest cigar company on the island before the Castro revolution.

Montecristo is today one of the most renowned Habanos brands in the world. Inspired by the hero of Alexandre Dumas' novel *The Count of Monte Cristo*, the name was chosen as a tribute to this work, which was regularly read to the *torcedores* in cigar factories. Initially, the range consisted of five cigars numbered 1 to 5, but it has expanded over time to satisfy the preferences of the most demanding enthusiasts, from the majestic Montecristo A to more compact formats. Among recent additions, the Edmundo and Petit Edmundo, launched in 2004 and 2007, stand out in particular. In 2009, the Open line, with its milder and more contemporary cigars, completed the range.
