The Silencio Black, little sister to the Silencio Red Dot, was introduced about a year after the classic version. A distinctive design element, the red dot in the letter "O," reminds many cigar enthusiasts of the Cohiba logo in the United States. However, due to trademark restrictions, these cigars cannot be sold under that name in Europe, where the brand was renamed "Silencio." Cuban names such as Cohiba or Montecristo can only be used in Europe for cigars made in Cuba.
The parent company, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), along with its distributor General Cigars, saw potential in this blend for the European market. After the release of the Silencio Red Dot in 2021, the Silencio Black version, a Maduro variant, followed a year later.
The flavor profile of the Silencio Black is rich and complex, with notes of earth, coffee, leather, pepper, and dark chocolate. It features a U.S. Broadleaf wrapper, with Dominican Piloto tobaccos and a powerful blend of Dominican, Mexican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Tasting: a clean, dark Maduro wrapper, medium-to-firm roll, moderate smoke volume. Flavors: coffee, earth, leather, chocolate, and pepper. The draw is excellent, offering an even burn.
Available for sale individually and in boxes of 25 cigars.
